Energy Savers Program

GreenTown Los Altos’s Energy Savers Program provides information and education on reducing home energy use and increasing the use of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind. We recommend the following as a first step:

Online assessment – NEW! – available through GreenTown and Acterra, this online energy assessment tool helps residents analyze and identify costly energy “leaks” from the comfort of their own homes. To participate, you will need to have lived in your home for 12 months, have a SmartMeter installed, and have no solar PV or solar thermal.

  • If you are a resident of Los Altos, GreenTown is offering a $50 online assessment to the first 50 households that sign up. Please contact energy@GreenTownLosAltos.org to sign up or for more information.
  • If you live in Los Altos Hills, Acterra is offering a free online assessment through its High Energy Homes Project. See Acterra’s website to participate.
In-home assessment – Visit Energy Upgrade California to identify contractors qualified to provide in-home assessments under the program. The contractor you select will come to your home, perform diagnostic tests and physical inspection, prepare recommendations on how you can save energy, and connect you with available rebates. Rebates up to $4000 are currently available for home energy upgrades.

Solar Panel Program – NEW!
GreenTown Los Altos is working with SunShares to promote solar energy and the installation of solar panels in Los Altos and Los Altos Hills.  The power of a group purchase will give us a vendor with great quality and a great price.  If you have ever considered solar panels – now is the time.  If your electricity bill is over $100-200 per month you should consider solar.  If you are thinking about an electric car you should consider solar.  There are attractive lease options so you can get started with no money down.  Sign up for a free, no obligation evaluation.  It’s easy and you will save money while you help save the planet.
